Telehandler Certification Mississauga - Telehandler certification programs are both for operators who have some experience driving a typical forklift and for those with no experience. The real-world training offered by these courses produces graduates who know the right and safe use of these types of machines.

Telehandler certification courses are provided in two forms: at a training facility; at the job site of the trainee. With the former alternative, the manufacturer may work together with a licensing agency to bring individuals to a training facility. This option provides those training with the opportunity to learn to use the machines in a controlled setting. Upon completion, participants are given a certification or license to use this type of machine.

With the latter alternative, a trained instructor is sent to a work location in order to provide on-location training. This alternative ensures that the trainee is instructed on actual machinery which would be used on the job, and prepares the trainee for the demands of that specific setting. Trainees learn about possible dangerous situations which could happen on the actual work site. The instruction focuses on whichever conditions that are specific to the work place, enabling operators to be ready to deal with these elements more safely.

The term "telehandler" is an abbreviated version of "telescopic handler," meaning a machine which has a telescoping or extending arm supporting a fork. A telehandler has different characteristics and controls similar to a forklift. A telehandler has the capability of lifting and transporting loads up and away from the vehicle. Incorrect utilization of telehandlers could lead to serious accidents. If load limits are exceeded, the machine could tip because of excess weight on the lift. It is an operator's duty to know load limits and to use these equipment safely.

Telehandler programs designed for operators who are already certified to use a forklift are known as "conversion" classes. These classes teach the differences between forklifts and telehandlers, and avoid repeating information that forklift operators already know. For trainees who have no prior experience making use of telehandler equipment, training covers the basic operation and utilization of the machine. Some organizations offer refresher courses also.
